Our Diverse Programs and Impact
Our range of programs and
initiatives is a testament to our commitment to education, community
development, and spiritual growth. Each program addresses specific needs and
provides meaningful opportunities for vulnerable children. Agape Scholars International aims to provide
academic support, skill development, and spiritual growth to make a positive
and lasting impact on the lives of those we serve. We remain committed and dedicated
to our mission of empowering orphans and street children and building stronger
communities.
After School Program
Our After School Program is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for students to engage in various educational and recreational activities once the school day ends. The program aims to support academic achievement to aid the challenges of overcrowded classrooms and low resources. Students have access to homework assistance, sports, and food. Students get help in prepping for the Primary School Leaving Exam that is taken after the 8th grade. Importantly, the gospel is shared by the teachers.
Scholarship Program
The Scholarship Program is a
pivotal initiative that seeks to make education accessible to deserving
students who might otherwise be unable to afford it. This program awards
scholarships based on academic merit and financial need. By providing financial
support, students who would otherwise have to leave school after the 8th
grade are able to finish their high school education, which is attained by less
than 10% of the population. Scholarships are essential for many students to
complete their high school education, and to either find work or go on to
higher education.
Agape House Children
Agape House is the founding program for Agape Scholars International. It is a home for street children and orphans, creating a safe space and the opportunity for education and re-entry into school. The caretakers provide emotional, communal and spiritual support which fosters cognitive, emotional, and social development. Agape House also provides opportunities for children to play games, learn how to farm, raise animals, and learn carpentry and tailoring skills.
Agape Youth Clubs
The Agape Youth Clubs are a dynamic partnership with pastors in Malawi to reach
out to the youth in the various communities to hear the gospel, have
opportunities for education, music, and sports. This allows the children to explore their interests,
develop new skills, and build lasting friendships. The clubs also offer opportunities
for secondary school scholarships and include youth leadership training and
community service. Through these experiences, young people gain confidence,
resilience, and a deeper understanding of their potential to make a positive
impact in their communities.
Preschool Program
Agape Preschool Program is dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education in a nurturing environment. Our preschool program emphasizes the holistic development of children, focusing on cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. Children are learning language and math skills before the normal school-age, which gives them a cognitive boost before they enter primary school. Agape Preschool aims to prepare children for their future academic journey by fostering a love for learning and encouraging positive social interactions.
Dubreka, Guinea Programs
Our work in Dubreka, Guinea, is
focused on improving the quality of life for orphans and vulnerable children
through various development projects. We have partnered with a pastor in
Dubreka, Guinea to create an “Agape House” experience. Children in Guinea experience similar poverty challenges as children in Malawi. Our leaders are meeting with similar success in protecting homeless children from the dangers of trafficking and providing a place of
safety, opportunities for education, and life-changing experiences in the
gospel.
Thomas’ Story
Thomas is a remarkable child whose story typifies the type of transformation that is experienced through the ministry of Agape House. Thomas had suffered a head injury when he had a seizure and fell into the fire at his home. His burns had largely been left untreated before he was introduced to Agape House. Through proper medical attention and improved dietary care, Thomas is given a chance to receive healing.
